Fraser Valley Outlook for Winter
2003 / Spring 2004
STS Guiding Service celebrating its 10th anniversary
 |
First off, we would like to thank all of
you who joined us in the 2003 season. Our business continues
to thrive because of the solid support from current and
past clients like you. The past 9 years have been exciting
and challenging for both STS Guiding Service and our family.
We look forward to the challenges that lie ahead and will
continue to take them on with the same determination.
Our 10th season is now approaching, 2004 is expected to
be much the same with incredible fishing opportunities.
STS Guiding Service would like to make our 10th season
just a bit more special for all of our current and future
clients. Throughout the season we will be recording catches
of salmon, trout, and sturgeon. On our website, we will
be posting the weights and lengths for each category.
At the end of the season, we will be giving away some
incredible prizes, which were donated by many of our
good sponsors and friends.

Winter/spring fishing opportunities in the Fraser
Valley
Trout
Winter Trout fishing usually begins to pick up by late
December. Although the temperatures can be a bit cool,
we do get a winter stonefly hatch in the late afternoon
on some of the warmer days. For those of you who are visiting
the area on business or just passing through, there are
definitely worthwhile opportunities to catch a few fish.
If you are planning an angling trout vacation, we would
suggest early February to late March for best fishing.
We offer local rivers in the Fraser Valley area as well
as remote river fishing just outside of Vancouver. We
fish for rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, and trophy bull
trout to 10 lb or better. STS Guiding Service is the only
guide service in the Vancouver, Fraser Valley, Harrison
region that offers full access to one of our premier winter
trout fisheries. During low water winter conditions, we
choose rafting over jet boating for the safety of our
clients and fish habitat protection.
Steelhead
 |
Steelhead begin to enter our local rivers
such as the Vedder, Chehalis, Harrison and Pitt River
by mid to late December. Good number’s do not start to
arrive until late January through until mid March. Peak
fishing for steelhead in the Vancouver/Fraser Valley area
is from late February to mid April. We fish for steelhead
using many methods; fly, spin, spoon etc.
We offer day trips on local and remote rivers and multi-day
packages. Our remote river adventures offer the opportunity
to fish for both steelhead and trout in the same outing.
This trip offers the angler the best opportunities and
is by far the highest quality winter fishery in the entire
region.
Sturgeon
Sturgeon fishing in the Fraser Valley area is a year round
fishery. Although the sturgeons are not feeding as aggressively
as they are during peak periods they are definitely worthwhile
targeting. The big battles that occur during spring, summer
and fall (see Spring for our next peak fishery) are not
as common during the winter but they still offer an incredible
battle on our custom built sturgeon rods.
We offer guided sturgeon charters all winter from our
top of the line River Jet Boats. Our boats are fully canopied
and heated to keep you warm and comfortable on those colder
winter days. We fish sturgeon year round on a stretch
of river that is considered the most productive water
on the entire Fraser River. Our accommodation Fraserview
Anglers Retreat offers an incredible view of this entire
stretch of river. If you are looking for a weekend getaway
or a winter angling package check out our winter special
2-night 2-day package or browse our many adventures packages
We hope you choose STS Guiding Service for your next angling
adventure.
