Liard River Hotsprings Provincial Park is one of the few provincial campgrounds that remain open year-round along the Alaska Hwy, and with good reason. Even in the depths of winter, which last eight months here, the springs are hot enough to provide relief to weary adventurers, whether they've been hiking on foot or on skis. These springs are very popular with residents of the nearest town, so be sure to reserve a space if you wish to overnight here.

Liard River Hotsprings provides two separate pools and a haven for those above the 55th parallel with natural water temperatures around 40C!  Most travellers rush to soak their tired, dusty limbs in the hot pools, but the rest of the park is also worth exploring. The hot springs have created a microclimate around the overflow area - there are over 250 plant species including monkey flowers, ostrich fern, butterwort, and aquatic bladderwort. The Hanging Gardens and the warm marshes along the boardwalk to the Alpha pool are excellent places to study the unique plant communities. Also inhabiting the area are mammals such as moose. woodland caribous, and black bear.

The park contains 53 vehicle/tent campsites and provide basic facilities – picnic tables, pit toilets, fire pits, firewood and water. All sites are located in a heavily forested area of pine, trembling aspen, and cottonwood, a delightful environment at any time of year. Nearby is a picnic/day-use area with shelter, change houses, an amphitheatre, a children’s playground and some horseshoe pits. Liard River Hot Springs is open year round and fees are collected from May to October.

Liard River Hot Springs is located at the 765km mark of the Alaska Highway, approximately 20km north of Muncho Lake and 60km north of Muncho Lake Provincial Park.
