  Weather in BC

God's Pocket Provincial Marine Park is located on the north side of Goletas Channel. The park comprises of a group of small islands at the entrance to Queen Charlotte Strait, including Hurst, Bell, Boyle and Crane Islands, and numerous other smaller islets.

The new 2,025-hectare park protects a seabird breeding colony and bald eagle habitat, and known archaeological sites. Hurst Island provides a sheltered, safe haven for boaters north or southbound in Queen Charlotte Strait. The strategic anchorage in Harlequin Bay offers a welcome relief from foul weather when conditions in the strait deteriorate.

Recreation at God's Pocket includes pleasure boating, fishing and especially scuba diving, as the waters are clean and teeming with marine life. Most diving takes place in nearby Browning Pass, an area highly rate by the late underwater explorer Jacques Cousteau as one of the best diving locales in the world.

The focus of the park is on habitat protection for wildlife, and eagles and whales are common in the area, as well as a Sasquatch-like creature that is said to live on the islands. This entire group of islands is considered to be haunted by spirits, and is truly an enchanting place to visit.

The nearby commercial lodge, adjacent to the park on Hurst Island in the anchorage known as God's Pocket, also arranges kayaking and diving trips to the area.

There are no designated campsites at this park, however random wilderness camping is allowed. No fee is charged and no facilities are provided. All amenities are available at Port Hardy.

God's Pocket Provincial Marine Park is located 12.5 miles (20 km) northwest of Port Hardy on Northern Vancouver Island. The park can be accessed by floatplane or by boat from Port Hardy.
