Gold Muchalat Provincial Park is located on the Gold and Muchalat Rivers, northwest of the town of Gold River on Vancouver Island.
The park protects an important trans-valley corridor of old-growth Douglas-fir and western hemlock trees. The park also protects important habitat for the Marbled Murrelet, deer and Roosevelt elk, which make their winter home in the park.
The surrounding areas attract nature lovers and anglers to this pristine sport fishing area. Sockeye Salmon spawn in the Muchalat River and Summer Steelhead, Rainbow Trout and Coho are found in both the Muchalat and Gold Rivers.
There are no designated campsites at this park, however random wilderness camping is allowed. The 653-hectare wilderness area offers no facilities. This park is open year round; however the roads may become inaccessible in the winter due to snowfall.
Gold Muchalat Provincial Park is located approximately 9 miles (15 km) northwest of Gold River on central Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Access to the park from Gold River and the Gold River Highway 28 is by the Gold River Mainline logging road, which runs through the park.
