It's difficult to imagine anyone not enjoying a visit to Winter Cove Park, situated at the northwest end of Saturna Island in the Gulf Islands.

A nature-lover's paradise, the 91-hectare park in Winter Cove is situated in the most beautiful part of Saturna Island. Winter Cove is a popular recreational area with swimming, fishing and kayaking being favourite pastimes.

A circular trail meanders through a coastal Douglas-fir forest carpeted with wildflowers in spring. Continue past a marsh, on to a rocky outcrop and out along the shoreline.

Prior to acquisition by the province of British Columbia in 1979, the land occupied by Winter Cove Park today was an open pit quarry, producing stone chips for road building.

There is a sheltered moorage and a boat launch for small boats only. (Note: there is a shallow sandbar in the middle of the cove). Other facilities include pit toilets, fresh water, and picnic tables, placed about an open, grassy field beside the cove - a sunny location in which to enjoy yourself. There are no camping facilities, and camping is actually prohibited in the park.

Winter Cove Park is located on Saturna Island in the southern Gulf Islands of BC, less than a kilometre from the ferry terminal at Lyall Harbour. Access is by boat or by road via East Point Road and Winter Cove Road.

BC Ferries operates a regular scheduled ferry service to Saturna Island from Tsawwassen on the Mainland and Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island.

Winter Cove Park is a part of the Gulf Islands National Park Reserve, one of Canada’s newest national parks. The park protects a portion of British Columbia’s beautiful southern Gulf Islands - a landscape of rocky headlands, forested hills and shorelines studded with colourful tidepools. The park resembles a patchwork quilt of protected lands scattered over 15 larger islands, and many smaller islets and reefs.
