Summit
Lake Ski Hill south of Nakusp in the Nakusp Range has been managed
and maintained by volunteers for the past 30 years. The ski
area offers downhill skiing and snowboarding on 10 runs ranging
from beginner to expert levels. Snowmobiling is also offered
in the area. In addition to the fantastic downhill conditions,
Summit Lake also offers spectacular cross country trails, both
groomed and ungroomed.
Summit Lake: The lake and the marsh are the headwaters for Bonanza
Creek that drains into Slocan Lake. The area is still sparsely
inhabited by humans but is home to beaver, muskrat, otter, weasel,
deer, elk, black bear, grizzly bears, cougar, herons, osprey,
bald and grey eagles, hawk, owls, humming birds and the occasional
moose and yeti. There are no amenities here, other than the
recreation site and the Ski Hill.
Summit Lake Ski Area is located 10 miles (16 km) southeast of
Nakusp in the Kootenays region of British Columbia. From Revelstoke
and Nakusp take Hwy 23 southeast to the Summit Lake Ski Area.
