| There is a huge difference in rainfall between the east coast and west coast of Vancouver Island. The west coast of the island (Tofino, Long Beach, Ucluelet, Pacific Rim Park, Bamfield) receives a lot more rain as it is exposed to the moisture-laden westerly winds blowing off the warmer Pacific Ocean. The warm air masses are forced up by the island's mountain ranges resulting in considerable precipitation falling on the Pacific Rim region during the winter months of September to March. Summers are drier, but it does rain in summer. Victoria enjoys the mildest climate in Canada. |
