Bonjour,
My name is Christopher, i was born and raised on Montreal island. I have grown up hearing racist remarks towards anyone of different race, colour or english speaking people. Ive grown nervous to be on Quebec roads, not only the drivers burning at warp 10 to make the opening of the habs game but also the pot holes that can swallow my car.
Last but not least, i'm scared of being part of a province that wants to separate from what i think is the greatest country in the world.
Point im trying to make is.. i want out, i dont want to dig my car out of snow each time i drive, i can deal with rain all winter. And a friend of mine who lives in Coquitlan (sp?), Vancouver tells me how it is and apart from high rent, i see no reason why i cant move to Vancouver or Vancouver island.
I have gone to school, and i am a trained PAB.. (preposé aux beneficiére) umm.. caregiver ? i do all the sh!tty work in hospitals that nurses dont want to. At the moment i work in a retirement home, taking care of the elderly . I have started working since January this year and have accumulated over 750 hours.
I am a single parent of a lovely young daughter of 9. Now id like a peaceful, crime free area for her. Although i can work in a hospital, Im sick and tired of the BS that goes on around there.
I know that Victoria is a popular retirement area for many Canadians. So.. my question is.. Can i afford to rent 2 bedroom house (an appartment is optional) and take care of a child on my salary as a caregiver in a retirement home in Victoria ? In montreal a starting salary for caregivers is 14$/h with LOTS of optional overtime.
I do own a vehicle but avoid driving when roads are clear of snow (yeah.. one of those dinky electric mopeds.. haters gonna hate :p )
My friend in Coquitlan, Vancouver tells me a 2 br bungalow goes for 1500$.. which for a quebecer is INSANE.. my current 2 br apt runs me 430$ a month.
Basically i need to move to a place where i dont know what the provincial flag looks like, If youve ever visited Quebec, you know what im on about
so... Vancouver island or Vancouver City ?
Regards
Christopher |
