Chateau Whistler Golf Club

Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., 6,635 Yards, Par 72, Rating 71.5, Slope 145

Considered by many to be the best course in Whistler, and consistently ranked as one of the top golf courses in all of Canada, The Chateau Whistler Golf Club is a mountain golf gem that you simply must play when in Whistler.

Designed by legendary course designer Robert Trent Jones Jr., Chateau Whistler uses dramatic elevation changes, streams and ravines as its predominant defences. Players that tend to spray the ball or get overly aggressive will have a tough time on this course. The smart player that picks his/her spots and plays within their game will love every aspect of this golfing gem.

A great example of the Chateau Whistler Experience is the par four, third hole. At 399 yards from the back tees this hole sounds like a guaranteed par for the big hitters. As you learn more about the hole though you will realize that it is anything but. Every yard of this dogleg-left is a steady uphill rise from the tees. A well-struck drive up the right centre of the fairway, rather than a monstrously long one, is therefore the key to getting to the green in regulation. Anything left of centre or short and you are going to have to lay-up.

For your second shot you will have to contend with a creek and a ravine that guard the front of the sloping green. A high soft-landing shot is therefore needed to carry over the trouble and stay on the putting surface. Hit your shot above the hole and you will have a dangerously fast putt coming back to the cup. Hit it too short of the hole and you will have to hammer a putt to get to the cup. The conservative player who goes with what is given to him is going to do well on this hole. The golfer who tries to bend the course to his will, is going to spend the day feasting on a healthy portion of crow.

This year come to Whistler and find out for yourself why Chateau Whistler Golf Club has been ranked as the Best Resort Course in Canada by Score Magazine, and one of the Top 15 Golf Resorts in North America by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine.
