| Since the first
Olympic Games in Greece 2,700 years ago, the Games have celebrated
the accomplishments of not only the world’s best athletes, but also
its premiere artists and performers.
Vancouver,
with its vibrant arts and eclectic cultural scene, cannot wait to
get started. The Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad will build with
arts festivals in 2008 and 2009, leading up to a virtual explosion
of the arts in theatres, galleries, village plazas, and downtown
streets. Expect the unexpected – performances inside historic mines,
performers dangling off concrete towers, and so much more.

The 2008 festival
launches the three-year cultural celebration with a dynamic and
diverse program of music, dance, theatre, visual art and multimedia
performances drawn from a broad spectrum of local, national and
international talent.
