  Weather in BC

Paul Lake Provincial Park is known for its beautiful scenery and wide variety of recreational activities. The park's large lakeshore campground is as popular with RVers as the extensive picnic grounds and adventure playground are with day trippers.

Easy access, beautiful scenery, plentiful fishing, over 7 kilometers of hiking trails, and a diversity of outdoor recreational activities make the 670-hectare Paul Lake Provincial Park a popular destination.

The trails take you from the lakeshore up a gentle grade through a mature Douglas-fir forest to the summit of Gibraltar Rock, 900 meters in elevation. The last portion of the trail (about 300 metres) is somewhat steep but there are rest stops along the way. The summit affords spectacular views of Paul Lake and Harper Mountain. You can take the alternate return route by way of the campground. When hiking to Gibraltar Rock, remember that there are dangerously steep cliffs at the top of the bluff. Keep well back and watch your children.

Surrounding forests consist of interior Douglas fir, aspen and some stands of old-growth trees. The park also provides habitat for falcons, white-throated swifts, bald eagles, coyotes and mule deer.

Paul Lake, stocked with Blackwater and Pennask strains of Rainbow trout, is easily accessed with a car-top boat. Paul Lake is perfect for easygoing paddling . The day-use area has a superb sandy beach and a safe swimming area that is buoyed off from boat traffic.  Biking is permitted on the roadways, and canoe, kayak and paddle-boat rentals are available.

The park has 90 vehicle/tent campsites (no reservations possible) and a day-use/picnicking area.  Basic facilities include picnic tables, pit toilets, fire pits, and cold water taps are located throughout the park. A sani-station is also provided.  Some facilities are wheelchair accessible. The Paul Lake group campsite is located at the opposite end of the lake from the main campground

Full services and fees are applicable between May 1 and September 15. Services may be available, and fees charged, earlier or later than this date, weather permitting. In the off season, self-contained units are available in day-use area with no services or fees.

Paul Lake Provincial Park is located northeast of Kamloops. Take Yellowhead Highway 5 north of Kamloops for 5 kilometres. Turn east on the paved Pinantan Road for 19 km to the campground, located on the north side of Paul Lake. The drive from Kamloops is approximately 30 minutes.
