La Hache is a beautiful lake in a rolling Fraser Plateau setting, and one of the
most popular lakes located along Cariboo Highway 97. Also known as Kumatakwa or
Axe Lake, and named for an early trader who supposedly dropped his axe in the
water, the park is great for hiking, swimming, waterskiing, canoeing, kayaking,
boating and fishing. Lac
La Hache is one of the most picturesque bodies of water in BC, and is known for
its large concentrations of kokanee and lake trout.Within
Lac La Hache park there is also a boat launch available for public use and an
adventure playground for the youngsters. After swimming, we recommend that you
shower as Swimmer’s Itch is sometimes a problem in mid-summer. At the lake's south
