Hot Springs Cove
Maquinna Provincial Marine Park is situated on the east coast of remote Hesquiat Harbour, 23 miles (37 km) northwest of Tofino on Vancouver Island.

Maquinna Marine Park now includes an extensive coastal area and has increased in size from 39 hectares to 2,667 hectares, which includes 1,269 hectares of upland and 1,398 hectares of foreshore.

One of the main attractions of the 39-hectare Maquinna Provincial Park is the hot mineral water of Hot Springs Cove. Outdoor enthusiasts will revel in the wide range of exciting activities available in the park, including sea kayaking, hiking and swimming.

Step on to the boardwalk for a pleasant half-hour stroll through old-growth rain forest to the hot baths. The pungent smell of sulphur beckons hikers as they approach Hot Spring Cove.

The geothermal hot springs cascade down a waterfall into half a dozen rocky pools. The delightful hot pools flow from one level to the next becoming gradually cooler as the fresh spring water is cooled by ocean swells.

Wilderness camping is allowed, but no facilities are provided. Camping is not permitted on the peninsula portion of the park where the hot springs are located. Wilderness camping is permitted in the remainder of the park. A private campground, operated by the Hesquiat First Nation, is located just north of the government dock.

Kayakers can access the hot springs via a rudimentary trail from the Sydney Inlet side of the peninsula. The park does not have a boat launch - the nearest boat launch is at the Fourth Street Dock in Tofino.

Maquinna Provincial Marine Park is located on the east coast of Hesquiat Harbour, 23 miles (37 km) northwest of Tofino on Vancouver Island, accessible by boat, water taxi, helicopter or floatplane from Tofino.
