The West Arm Provincial Park in the Kootenays encompasses a diverse range of habitats, from lakeshore to subalpine, high-elevation forests and alpine areas. The park extends along the shore of Kootenay Lake, from Nelson to Harrop and up to the peaks behind, and features old-growth forests that provide internationally significant habitat for grizzly bear and other endangered species, and for a mountain caribou recovery program.

The largely undeveloped 25,319-hectare park also protects important watersheds that supply the city of Nelson with water. The creek fans and pocket beaches are popular with boaters. Recreational activities include wildlife viewing, hiking, skiing, watersports, and canoeing and kayaking.

The park protects important First Nations archaeological sites situated along the shore of Kootenay Lake, and there is an historic trail (not maintained) up Lasca Creek. The area has an important heritage associated with past railway development and the sternwheeler ship era. Use caution on the Lasca Creek trail as it leads through prime bear habitat.

Wilderness, backcountry or walk-in camping is allowed, but there are no facilities provided at the park.

West Arm Provincial Park is located immediately east of Nelson and south of the West Arm of Kootenay Lake in the Kootenays region of British Columbia.
